Hitch a Ride on the River Taxi This Season
April 5, 2017This spring and summer, ditch the roads and travel by water instead — on the River Taxi! Now open for the 2017 season, the 29-seat vessel offers a scenic, serene way to get around Wilmington. Hop aboard at one of the six stops (Dravo Plaza, the Public Docks, FireStone Roasting House, Riverfront Market/Harry’s Seafood Grill, Tubman-Garrett Riverfront Park, and Kalmar Nyckel Shipyard) for a leisurely cruise down the Christina and Brandywine rivers.
In addition to rides, the taxi offers special events, like The History Tour, a one-hour tour that introduces passengers to historical points along the river. The Wednesday Wine Cruise is another popular option. This tour combines good food and wine with soft breezes and a water view.
You can board the River Taxi this weekend. The taxi operates noon to 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 2-8 p.m. on Sundays. Rides cost $7 for adult and $5 for children and seniors.
